The best differential for your street-strip Mustang. Great manners around town, dead straight launches at the track. This 31 spline unit works for the stock axles in '05-14 Mustang GT/GT500 with the 8.8" straight axle and the '03-04 Mustang Cobra with the IRS. Recomended for cars 60fting down to the 1.4s, below that, we recommend the 33 spline unit used in our 11 GT which 60fts in the 1.3s. 31 spline unit is a direct replacement for the stock 8.8 trak-lok, but has no clutches to wear out and is much stronger. The 33 spline unit has 4 internal pinions (vs 3 in the 31 spline unit) and is incredibly beefy internally but requires aftermarket 33 spline axles.

The Truetrac operates as a standard or open differential under normal driving conditions, allowing one wheel to spin faster or slower as necessary when turning. When a wheel encounters a loss of traction or the terrain changes, the gear separation forces take effect and transfer torque to the high-traction wheel. The helical-shaped gears mesh with increasing force until wheel spin is slowed or completely stopped. When the vehicle exits the low traction situation, the differential resumes normal operation.
Operation of the Truetrac is smooth, quiet and automatic. The unit will engage without any driver knowledge or action required. It also has no wearable parts and requires no maintenance, meaning less time in the garage and more on the road.
